This privacy policy explains what information Scoped SEO Extension (“the extension”) accesses, how it’s used, and what is — and isn’t — done with it.
What the extension does
Scoped SEO Extension is a Chrome browser extension that analyzes the on-page SEO elements of the website you are currently viewing. When you click the extension icon, it reads the active page’s title, meta tags, headings, links, images, structured data (schema markup), social tags, and page-load timing, and displays the results in a popup so you can review them.
What data is accessed
To perform this analysis, the extension reads content from the webpage open in your active browser tab — including text, hyperlinks, images, and metadata already present on that page. This happens only when you click the extension icon; the extension does not run in the background and does not access any tab you have not actively opened the popup for.
The extension does not access, request, or process:
- Personally identifiable information (your name, address, email, etc.)
- Health, financial, or payment information
- Passwords, credentials, or authentication data
- Personal communications (emails, messages, chats)
- Your location
- Your browsing history across other tabs or sessions
- Your clicks, keystrokes, or other on-page activity
What happens to the data
All analysis happens locally, inside your own browser. The information the extension reads from a page is used only to render that page’s audit results in the popup, for your own viewing. Nothing is:
- Sent to any external server
- Stored outside your current browser session
- Sold, shared, or transferred to any third party
- Used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to displaying your SEO audit
When you close the popup or navigate away, the data is discarded. The extension has no backend, no account system, and no analytics of its own.
Permissions
The extension requests two Chrome permissions:
- activeTab — allows the extension to read the page you’re currently viewing, only when you click the extension icon.
- scripting — allows the extension to run its analysis script on that active page.
Neither permission is used to access tabs you haven’t actively opened the extension on, and neither is used to collect or transmit data anywhere.
